A great success for the first GALATEA Blue Growth Accelerator Call for vouchers with 76 projects submitted by innovative SMEs across 5 European countries

This call aims to support the development of innovative cross-sectoral and cross-border technologies, services or products addressing the 22 challenges identified in 4 key Blue Growth domains: Smart Port, Smart Ship, Smart Shipyard and Maritime Surveillance.

25 selected SMEs will get direct financial support from the voucher scheme (1.259.958€ in total) to undertake development and technology transfer activities, prototyping projects, and large-scale demonstration projects that aim to tackle challenges related to energy, logistics, environment, digitalisation, service development, security and manufacturing. The funded projects are distributed by country as follows: 36% France, 28% Spain, 16% Greece, 12% Romania and 8% Poland.

After one intense month of joint evaluation operated by the GALATEA consortium partners and associated experts, the results have been announced to the applicants. The selected projects will start by June 2021. The list of laureates is detailed in the table below:

With the fostering of GALATEA’s personalized support and funding on up to 12 months, the beneficiary SMEs will implement their project and present an output answering to the project’s challenges.

In addition, 18 SMEs will benefit from professional coaching and mentoring services provided by GALATEA partners with the aim to develop their innovation and scale-up activities. Provided services will focus on business model elaboration, technology potential assessment for given markets, internationalisation actions or exploring funding opportunities.

A second opportunity to get financial support

A second Innovation Call offering financial support to SMEs will be launched in autumn.

Before the Open Call closes, interested SMEs will get the chance to discuss the GALATEA challenges and meet potential partners during a second round of Innovation Clubs and B2B meetings which will be held in September 2021.

Four Innovation Clubs sessions will be organised, one for each GALATEA domain, to encourage SMEs in proposing innovating solutions to the challenges identified and to form cross-regional consortia.

Afterwards, a B2B matchmaking event is planned to enable SMEs to meet and consolidate concrete partnerships.

Keep an eye on our website, registration link and details on the 2nd Open Call will be posted soon.
